A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that an employer in Canada may need to get before hiring a foreign worker, which is assessed by the Employment and Social Development Canada to determine whether companies have the need and ability to hire foreigners.
The LMIA process is different depending on whether the targeted employee is classified as “high-wage” or “low-wage”. In addition, there are special programs, such as agriculture, caregivers, and the Global Talent Program, permanent residence Program, etc.
When applying for federal immigration, applicants who have LMIA can add 50 to 200 points in CRS.
